7/16th Motherwell Boys' Brigade

7/16th Motherwell Boys' Brigade Company runs 3 sections for Boys aged from 4 to 18 years. Our 3 sections meet on a Friday evening.

The object of the Boys’ Brigade is:

"The advancement of Christ's kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness."

As a Company, we are always very busy doing badge work, practicing for competitions and having fun! All our work is underpinned by the philosophy that Boys should have as full an experience during their formative years and should always be challenged to be the best that they can be as they become young men! The Company is split into 3 sections as follows:

Anchor Boys

Where: Motherwell: South Parish Church, Gavin Street.
When: Fridays, 6:15pm to 7:15pm.
Who: Boys in Primary 1-3.

The youngest section of the Company, Boys are always busy having fun through arts and crafts, stories and games.

Junior Section

Where: Firpark Secondary School, Firpark Street.
When: Fridays, 6:30pm to 8pm.
Who: Boys in Primary 4-6.

The middle section of the Company, where Boys learn the basics of marching, play lots of sports and learn lots of useful life skills, such as road and fire safety. Boys take part in 6 Battalion competitions throughout the session.

Company Section

Where: Firpark Secondary School, Firpark Street.
When: Fridays, 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
Who: Boys in Primary 7 – S6.

The oldest and busiest section of the Company, boys are involved in a large number of activities. Boys learn about Drill, Christian faith and other useful skills for life, learning and work. The Company Section take part in battalion and national competitions including football, drill, table tennis, first aid, badminton and many more, where they have gained considerable success in recent years. Senior Boys have the opportunity to work towards their President’s Badge and Queen’s Badge, as well as completing their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. The highlight of our session is our annual camp. Over the past few years, we have gone camping to Badaguish, near Aviemore, where the Boys have spent a week cycling, fishing, rock climbing and raft building, amongst other activities.
